Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for ALL

Kirloskar Brothers Limited's WaSH Project is aligned with Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs) resolved in the UN Summit meet held on 25-27 September 2015, in which India was represented.

About 50% of the developing world's population - almost 3 billion people - lack good sanitation facilities and over 900 million people still use unsafe drinking water. WASH supports the national and state governments in developing and implementing a range of replicable intervention models for sanitation, hygiene and water supply.

In accordance with the concern of Late Shri Shantanurao Kirloskar towards improving conditions of cleanliness and discipline locally and his zeal to make a difference, we introduced the correct way to wash hands with soap in numerous schools. This was a joint initiative with the UNICEF WASH program.

KBL WaSH Project is a part of KBL CSR Program that covers, ‘Health, Hygiene and Cleanliness’

Objectives of this project are

  • a. To create awareness amongst people about the importance of cleanliness habits with respect to water, sanitation and hygiene.
  • b. To enable children to successfully contribute towards ‘Swachha Bharat Abhiyan’.
  • To bring about positive change in future generation towards cleanliness.
  • A key feature of the campaign is to make a visible impact on the health and hygiene of children through WaSH Project. Activities under WaSH project aims to improve the curriculum and teaching methods while promoting hygiene practices among school children. That help to prevent water, hygiene and sanitation related diseases

This project has been implemented in nearby schools around Yamuna in Pune, Kondhapuri in Tal.Shirur and Kirloskarvadi in Sangali District. Overall this project is being implemented in 18 schools, with help of 76 KBL volunteers benefitting 4000 beneficiaries.
